Why Creativity isn’t Dictated by the Computer You Own
As I become involved with technology and its latest advances, I feel proud of being a tech geek. I mean, look around us. Technology is evolving in such a beautiful way. Technology is changing lives from helping in the field of medicine to advancing the ways we entertain ourselves.
You know what’s even better though? How technology can help our creativity. By owning the newest and latest computer, we become creative individuals and create beautiful art. I can now call myself a “creative” now that I own this new computer.
Okay, I can’t fake it anymore. Creativity is not dictated by the computer we own.
If you think you’re a creative individual by owning the latest and greatest computer, stop reading this.
I can’t tell you how many times I have seen this conversation play out:
Person: Oh, so what do you do?
Me: I’m a website designer.
Person: That’s awesome! What kind of computer do you use?
Me: I use a PC.
Person: *gasp* Why aren’t you using the Mac? All creative people use Macs! You can’t be creative without it!
While I have no personal disrespect against Mac computers, I’m getting tired of hearing that Macs are for creative people and PCs aren’t.
Creativity comes from within
Remember all of the drawings you created when you were a kid? Remember all the imaginary adventures you went on? Those are prime of examples of creativity that comes from within. When I was little, computers were not very popular and I was not allowed to use one yet, so I would create fantasy worlds and explore them within my imagination. That’s where creativity stems from.
Creativity is what makes us great designers. Without creativity, we wouldn’t have the drive to create beautiful designs or come up with new products. Creativity fuels us in so many ways, it should never be allowed to dictated to one specific product.
You want to be creative? Explore your mind or go outside
Don’t sit on your computer and wait for creativity to come to you, go outside or explore your mind. Hell, if you want, buy a coloring book and crayons, and color. Surprisingly, it helps my creativity (and makes me feel like a kid again). Whatever gets your creative juices flowing, do it! Just don’t sit on that expensive computer you bought and wait for it to come you because it won’t.
What do you do to spark your creativity?

Great article. It would have been much better, and more creative, if you had written it using a Mac.
